Brian Ouko Omollo grew up in Kayole — one of Nairobi’s toughest estates, where he scored a D+ in KCSE and had no obvious path to anything. Today Khaligraph Jones is a BET-nominated rapper, a label CEO, and the owner of a multimillion-shilling mansion that Kenyans keep comparing to a shopping mall.

The gap between those two points is one of the most interesting stories in Kenyan music.

Quick Facts

Full Name Brian Robert Ouko Omollo
Stage Name Khaligraph Jones / The OG / Papa Jones
Date of Birth June 12, 1990
Age 36 (as of 2026)
Born & Raised Kayole, Nairobi
Tribe Luo
Profession Rapper, songwriter, label CEO

Early Life

He was born on June 12, 1990, in Kayole — an informal settlement in Nairobi known for its hustle, its noise, and very little room for error. His mother named him Ouko after the late politician Robert Ouko, who had been assassinated just months before his birth.

He is the fourth of seven siblings, and it was his older brother Span KOB — also a rapper — who first put him onto hip-hop. He didn’t thrive academically. He scored 248 marks in KCPE and a D+ in KCSE. What he had instead was a voice, a pen, and the kind of ambition that Kayole either breaks or builds.

Music won.

Career and Breakthrough

His career officially started when he won the Channel O MC Africa competition in 2009 at just 18 years old. The win gave him confidence and a platform — but the real breakthrough came between 2012 and 2013 with “Mazishi” and “Yego.” Both tracks went everywhere. “Yego” especially — it was the kind of song that played in matatus, on radio, and at parties simultaneously, and it made people take Kenyan rap seriously.

His debut studio album Testimony 1990 dropped in June 2018 and cemented his position as Kenya’s premier rapper. It was also around this period that he collaborated with Otile Brown on “Imaginary Love” — a track that gave early crossover exposure to both artists by pairing Khaligraph’s rap with Otile’s R&B in a combination Kenyan fans hadn’t quite heard before. He followed the album with The Book of Jones — a 10-track project that showed range beyond the bars-heavy style he’d built his name on.

The OG launched Blu Ink Corp — his record label and production house — and built the Khali Cartel series into one of Kenya’s most respected rap franchises, with Khali Cartel 5 releasing in March 2025. Each instalment has introduced new talent while keeping him at the centre of Kenyan hip-hop.

In 2020 he became the first Kenyan rapper nominated for a BET Award in the Best International Flow category. He lost to UK’s Stormzy — but the nomination alone was a statement.

Relationships — Khaligraph Jones’ Wife and Family

Cashy Karimi: Before his marriage, he was in a long-term relationship with fellow rapper Cashy Karimi. They have one son together — Xolani. Their breakup was messy and public, involving allegations of abuse and child support disputes that played out in the media for years.

Georgina Muteti — Khaligraph Jones’ Wife: Papa Jones married Georgina Muteti, a hairstylist and social media personality who has become one of the most visible celebrity wives in Kenya. She is Kamba — which answers the frequent “Khaligraph Jones wife tribe” search — and she attends virtually every major show, sometimes dressed in custom “Omollo Gang” outfits, and has been known to rap along to his fast-paced verses word for word during performances.

Together, they have three children — a daughter named Amali Jones Ouko, and two sons. Combined with Xolani, he is a father of four.

Drama and Controversies

Cashy Karimi Fallout The breakup didn’t stay private. Allegations of abuse and unresolved child support issues played out across interviews and social media for years — one of the most discussed personal dramas in Kenyan hip-hop.

The Skin Bleaching Allegations (2017) Khaligraph showed up to a TV interview looking noticeably lighter, and the internet came for him immediately. He denied bleaching, said it was “clean water and a better lifestyle,” then turned the controversy into music — releasing “Toa Tint” as a direct response. The song became a hit. He turned his critics into content.

Industry Beefs Khaligraph Jones has been in lyrical wars with Octopizzo, Nigerian artists including Blaqbonez and Chocolate City, and various Tanzanian rappers. There’s also been friction with King Kaka and Juliani in the past — most of which resolved without lasting damage. His position has always been the same: the best rapper in Africa, and he’ll say it as many times as it takes.

The Mall Mansion When the mansion went viral for being compared to a shopping mall and a Level 4 hospital, he responded publicly: “These are the problems I have always wanted.” His response became its own viral moment.

Khaligraph Jones Latest News (Mid-2026)

As of mid-2026, The OG completed a successful tour of West Africa and is reportedly working on a new collaborative album featuring artists from Nigeria and South Africa. His Ngong mansion is now fully complete — Oga Obinna gave fans the most comprehensive look inside it yet in May 2026, with the tour going viral across social media.

He continues to be one of the loudest voices advocating for Kenyan artists’ rights, regularly engaging with policymakers on the creative economy. At 36, Brian Ouko shows no signs of slowing down — if anything, the business side of the career is expanding faster than the music.
